Bitter Sweet: A Captain’s Next Chapter
There are moments in sports that fill you with pride and heartbreak at the same time. This is one of them.
Edmon Lara — known to fans, teammates, and opponents alike as “DroppinBucketz” — is officially moving on to play professional basketball overseas, becoming the first player in Edgewood 96ers history to take that step on the global stage.
As an organization, we couldn’t be prouder.
As a family, we will miss him deeply.
From day one, Edmon represented everything the Edgewood 96ers stand for: toughness, leadership, sacrifice, and an unrelenting will to win. As team captain, he carried more than a stat line — he carried the locker room, the culture, and the belief that Edgewood belongs in every serious basketball conversation.
His impact on the court speaks for itself. Night after night, Edmon set the tone with dominant performances, leading by example and demanding excellence. But what truly set him apart was what he brought off the court: mentorship, accountability, and a standard that raised everyone around him.
This opportunity overseas is a tremendous blessing — not just for Edmon, but for his entire family. It’s the result of years of grind, sacrifice, and staying ready when the moment arrived. Opportunities like this don’t come often, and when they do, you chase them with both hands.
While his departure leaves a void that can’t be easily filled, his legacy with the 96ers is permanent. Edmon Lara will forever be remembered as a trailblazer — the first to open the international door and show what’s possible when preparation meets opportunity.
The Edgewood 96ers are better because of him.
Our program is stronger because of him.
And his story will continue to inspire the next generation of Edgewood players.
This isn’t goodbye — it’s see you later.
Once a 96er, always a 96er.
Go make the world feel you, Cap. 🌍🏀🔥
